Good afternoon, Dolphin fans! We have practice today and a Coach McDaniel presser! There is a lot to go over so let’s get into it!
Starting from Mike McDaniels early morning presser, “second-year OL Andrew Meyer will be out for multiple weeks, rookie CB Jason Marshall was back at practice today and Alec Ingold remains in concussion protocol. McDaniel also mentioned that Darren Waller could possibly be returning to practice next week after joint practice with the Bears. Coach mentioned “Like a lot of people, he’s out to prove something but he understands the connectivity of the work and the result — not chasing the result but chasing the work”, on Patrick Paul. Star Receiver Tyreek Hill was not at practice today due to an undisclosed injury.
Has practice number 12, receiver Malik Washington wore the orange jersey. Storm Duck and Jack Jones both set the tone early during the 1-on-1 period. Jones went up against Westbrook-Ikhine, Eskridge and Armstrong staying with them through the entire route. Mike Hilton, Ethan Bonner and Patrick McMorris made some plays today as well. The Dolphin’s run defense has been an underrated group throughout camp. Gay Jr, Benito Jones, Channing Tindall both made key stops on running back Alexander Mattinson during the team period.

Kendall Sheffield caught a pick from Zach Wilson; Sheffield has been making plays consistently through camp, someone to have a close eye on during the preseason. Willie Gay Jr had multiple sacks and a pass break today. Gay Jr has been showing out every day since camp starts, Dolphin fans should be thrilled to see him lead this defense this year.
Offensively Zach Wilson had two good throws to Ezukanma and Eskridge. Dee Eskridge will be getting a lot of snaps during preseason. Tua found standout Tanner Connor on a 3rd and long. Quinn Ewers and Waddle were the offensive stars today. Waddle caught a pass in the middle of the field thrown by Tua and Ewers ended practice with a touchdown to Theo Wease; another preseason look out.

The team will be travelling to Chicago and have joint practice on Friday, and then, Sunday at 1P.M. we will see our Dolphins take the field for the first time in 2025 going against Caleb Williams, Ben Johnson, and the Bears. This will be an exciting moment to see who will step up in the secondary and how the offensive line will be as well.

To end today’s practice, players spoke to the media. Tua stated how Quinn Ewers “has been calm cool and collected” throughout camp. Ewers will most likely lead the third and fourth team offense on Sunday, which will be a great opportunity for the former Texas Longhorn star. See you after Friday practice in Chicago!
