BOCA RATON – After a productive season under head coach Lane Kiffin, the FAU Owls are predicted to duplicate their success.

FAU has been picked by national media outlets to repeat as Conference USA East champions, receiving 22 of 26 possible first place votes in the C-USA preseason media poll.

This story development was first reported by ESPN West Palm Beach.

To further the Owls argument of being Conference USA champs once again, six FAU players were named to the Conference USA Coaches’ Preseason team.

Offensive Player of the Year: RB Devin Singletary

The Delray Beach American Heritage alum was nothing short of amazing last year for the Owls after running for 1,920 yards and 32 total touchdowns. Singletary was even mentioned as a player that deserved to be a candidate for the Heisman Trophy.

Defensive Player of the Year: LB Azeez Al-Shaair

He led the Owls defense in tackles (147 total) and 11 tackles for loss. Al-Shaair has been one of the top tacklers in the nation since arriving at FAU.

Other impact players for the Owls this fall that earned a spot on the conference USA coaches preseason team are listed below.

Offense:
TE Harrison Bryant
OL Reggie Bain

Defense:
DB Shelton Lewis
DB Jalen Young (Seminole Ridge alum)

It will be interesting to see what the Owls bring to the table this fall. They completed their most successful season in program history just a year ago, finishing at 11-3 with their first Conference USA title and Boca Raton Bowl victory.
