RIVIERA BEACH – No. 5 Inlet Grove (6-1) and No. 8 King’s Academy (7-1) are both on six-game winning streaks and have their eyes on being crowned as District 9-2M champions.
INLET GROVE
Inlet Grove’s lone loss came against Santaluces in Week 1. The result was a 32-20 game that could have gone either way.
But after Week 1’s 12-point margin of defeat, the Hurricanes have not looked back since.
The Hurricanes most recent game was against Hollywood Hills. It resulted in a 26-14 outcome that worked in their favor.
Inlet’s offensive attack has become very balanced as the season has progressed. They can hurt you in the air or on the ground.
Inlet Grove senior running back Christian had 151 rushing yards against Hollywood Hills. As a team, Inlet Grove rushed for 320 yards and threw for 105 yards with four total touchdowns in its Week 9 win.
On defense, the Hurricanes are only letting opponents score an average of 10 points per game and punishing ball carriers every time they have the ball.
Carl Boldin and Shadrack Simeon recorded 11 tackles apiece against Hollywood Hills. And as a whole, Inlet Grove’s defense tallied six sacks and 11 tackles for loss, with the charge being led by senior linebacker Ajani Heron (three sacks).
KING’S ACADEMY
The Lions are coming off a hard fought 28-23 home win over True North Classical Academy.
Sophomore quarterback Joe Dailey leads the Lions offensive attack and has over 600 yards passing and nine touchdowns. Dailey’s top targets are Turner Lacey, Javian Jones, and Jackson Worley.
Junior Marion Victor leads the King’s Academy rushing attack by averaging almost 80 yards per game this season.
King’s is only letting opponents average 10 points per game. It has also recorded two shutouts on the season.
The Lions front seven will be the difference maker in this matchup as they are veteran led and play disciplined football.
Jones, Worley, Jermaine Council, Cory McEnroe, and Nick Cueto will be names to look out for on defense tonight.
Lions head coach Ben McEnroe has been consistent with making sure his team is playing good football no matter who lines up in front of them.
The Hurricanes are the highest ranked team that the Lions will face this season. This will be a true test to see how they handle this one.
COUNTERPOINT: INLET GROVE
Inlet Grove has been able to just flat out win games this season. Some have been in convincing fashion, while others have been nail biters.
First-year head coach Rashad Jackson will be looking to put a signature win under his belt and secure a district title.
FIRST MEETING IN A LONG TIME
The last time these two teams squared off was back in 2013, with King’s Academy dominating Inlet Grove in a 52-0 win.
