Protect the Crib: Tennessee Handles Georgia at Home

Knoxville, TN – The Tennessee Vols hosted the Georgia Bulldogs in a Wednesday Night SEC matchup. The first half was close as the Bulldogs went into the break up by one.

Georgia was led by 3x SEC Freshman of the Week Asa Newell, who was able to put up 13 points, as well as Silas Demary Jr, who had 12.

However there was a shift after the break, The second half was all Vols. The tone was set by an exciting, momentum-swinging sequence as Jahmai Mashack hit a 3, followed by a block. Then, Felix Okpara then had a putback dunk off of a missed 3-pointer. From then Tennessee didn’t look back, outscoring Georgia by 19 in the second half and finishing with a 74-56 win.

The Vols finished with 4 double-digit scorers and had the edge over the Dawgs’ in every major stat. Senior Jordan Gainey led the way with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

Tennessee advances to 15-1 and seems to be regaining their stride after their 30-point loss to Florida in Gainesville last week. They’re set to travel to Vanderbilt on Saturday to continue a solid 2024-25 campaign that they have going on.

Georgia drops to 14-3 and will host Auburn on Saturday in a very important matchup for both programs.
