LAKE WORTH – Park Vista played its last game of the season on Friday night (Nov. 3) against Palm Beach Gardens.

After a slow start to the game for both teams, Palm Beach Gardens senior wide receiver Devin Atwaters had a good catch and run to put his team deep in the red zone.

However, Palm Beach Gardens would fumble the ball inside of the 5-yard line, handing the ball right back to Park Vista.

To start the second quarter, the score was still tied at 0-0. Park Vista punted and Palm Beach Gardens punched it in for the score on the punt return, but the touchdown was called back due to a penalty.

Park Vista retained possession, but ultimately gave the ball back to Palm Beach Gardens inside the red zone.

Even with the good field position, Gardens only came out of the possession with a field goal to go up 3-0.

After the kickoff, Gardens forced a three-and-out. On the punt, there was a bad snap which led to the ball going out of the end zone.

It resulted in a safety, making the score 5-0.

On the ensuing punt, the Gators got a decent return and were given even better field positioning with the help of a penalty.

With the good positioning, Gardens senior quarterback Keyon Stephens immediately took a deep shot on second down, which resulted in a touchdown.

Attempting to execute the two-minute drill, Park Vista threw an interception, which gave Gardens the ball back with 1:41 left in the second quarter.

The Gators got the ball with solid field positioning. But more penalties pushed them back and they ended up having to punt in the last minute of the half.

On the punt, the Cobras end up touching the ball and the Gators regained possession.

To close out the half, Gardens had dropped two wide open touchdowns on back to back plays, keeping the score 12-0.

To start the third quarter, the Gators (6-4) got the ball back. Keyon Stephens found his receiver Gavin Newby for a big gain that put the Gators in the red zone.

The Gators scored and went for two, but did not convert, making the score 18-0.

In the third quarter, the Cobras (3-7) finally got in the end zone from a beautiful strike from sophomore quarterback Tristen Pokabla. This made the score 18-7 with five minutes left in the third quarter.

The Cobras went on to get a stop after a long Gators drive, which they stopped on a fourth down.

Stephens broke off a long 60+ yard run to put Gardens in the red zone to start the fourth quarter. He then finished it off by breaking two tackles to get in the end zone, putting his team up 25-7.

On the Cobras ensuing drive, they attempted to work the field. However, their deep shot of the drive was intercepted by senior defensive back Bryce Kelly.

The Gators converted that into points on a deep touchdown pass. The blocked extra point made the score 31-7.

The final score was 31-13, with the help of a late touchdown from the Cobras.
