WEST PALM BEACH – After being a successful starter this past season at Oxbridge Academy, Gio Richardson has made another big decision for himself.

Richardson, who pledged his verbal commitment to FAU earlier this summer, has announced via Twitter that he’ll be transferring to Palm Beach Central for his senior season.

The signal-caller has displayed a burning desire to capture a state title, which has been his primary focus while playing high school football. It’s the driving force as to why he made this move, along with the fact that Oxbridge Academy has decided to suspend its 2018-19 football season.

“The main reason is because I want to go back to the state championship game with a team I know can get there,” Richardson said. “I know many players at Palm Beach Central and I know we can get back to it.”

When asked about what he wants to get out of his Palm Beach Central experience, Richardson simply stated, “I’m looking for the same plan we had at Oxbridge, and that’s to get back to the state championship game.”

Richardson’s transfer move to Palm Beach Central comes after former Oxbridge Academy running back James Meeks (fellow FAU verbal commit) and offensive lineman Courtney Tate decided to so the same a few weeks ago.

Richardson is ranked as our No. 9 overall player in Palm Beach County, while Meeks checks in at No. 10 and Tate lands at No. 27.

Palm Beach Central has a whopping 16 (!) players in the latest iteration of the New Era Prep Top 100, the most by far in Palm Beach County.

It’s possible that the Broncos can add two more for a total of 18 in the Top 100, as former Oxbridge Academy linebacker/recent Indiana verbal commit Dorian Jones (No. 13; NEP Top 100) and LB Kyle Vanputtenvink (No. 55; NEP 100) haven’t revealed their transfer decisions yet.
