Quick decision: K Jake Weinberg commits to Florida State

DELRAY BEACH – The turnaround time for a college football decision by Jake Weinberg took less than 48 hours.

On New Year’s Eve (Dec. 31, 2022), the nation’s No. 1 kicker receiver his monumental offer from Florida State.

And on the day after New Year’s Day (Jan. 2), the reigning Lou Groza Award winner for Placekicker of the Year went with Florida State as his college football destination of choice.

Weinberg spoke on his moment and how it came so fast.

“It’s been a dream school of mine for years,” Weinberg said. “The staff is unbelievable and it’s in the hometown state, which is a big factor. The coaches truly believe in me, which made my decision easier.”

We will briefly turn back to the moment that Weinberg earned his Florida State offer.

Weinberg on the Florida State offer that came on New Year’s Eve:

”It feels amazing,” the 5-foot-10, 163-pound kicker said. “I love everything about Florida State. It’s truly an honor and I want to thank everyone who has helped me achieve this goal. It’s a great school and I can’t wait to get back on campus.”

Weinberg’s most recent visit to Florida State came when it played at home against Georgia Tech on Saturday, Oct. 29. He spoke on the experience, which was highlighted by the Seminoles 41-16 home win over the Yellow Jackets.

“Everything was amazing,” Weinberg said. “The staff treated my family and I like family. I loved everything about the campus and I can’t wait to be back on campus.”

SIDE NOTE: Weinberg (No. 20 overall player in Palm Beach County; 2024 class) chose Florida State over FAU and Youngstown State.
