WEST PALM BEACH – As one of the nation’s best running backs, Palm Beach Lakes running back Antonio Outler is ready for a star senior season.
Outler, who was the team’s starting running back last year, finished his junior season with 1,784 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. Through the air, Outler added five touchdowns.
The reason for the strong production, according to Outler, was his ability to see the field.
“I most definitely excelled in my downfield vision and my explosion,” Outler said.
As a team, Palm Beach Lakes had a season to remember. The Rams went undefeated in the regular season, going 9-0. And in the playoffs, Lakes defeated East Lake before falling to Venice.
“We really just bonded as a team and listened to the coaches and followed the game plan,” Outler explained.
The strong season has helped the three-star prospect (per 247 Sports) earn more and more college offers.
Among the 12 offers Outler currently holds is up-and-coming C-USA team Charlotte, FCS program Tennessee-Martin, both of who offered him in May. He also holds offers to Georgia State, Southern Mississippi, Auburn and Kentucky.
“I’ve been getting a lot love from coaches all over the country,” Outler said about the recruiting process. “It’s been a fun process so far. I’m just riding it and enjoying it while I can.”
When the NCAA dead period caused by COVID-19 is lifted, Outler is planning on visiting South Dakota, a program that has continued to recruit Palm Beach County well, along with other programs when he is able to.
Although spring practices were cancelled in Palm Beach County due to the spread of COVID-19, Outler has used the time in lockdown to stay in shape and stay ready for his senior season.
“I have a personal trainer so I make sure I’m passed where I need to be,” Outler explained.
With Palm Beach Lakes returning a lot of star talent, the sky’s the limit for both Outler and his team. In his final season, Outler is hoping to reach 2,000-yards and over 20 offers.
As a team, Outler hopes to help the Rams advance past the second round, the same round where Palm Beach Lakes lost to Venice to end their season last year.
