CARDINAL NEWMAN – Day two of the Kickoff Classic week commenced as one of the notable games of today took place near downtown West Palm Beach. It was Cardinal Newman facing off against Park Vista.
The first quarter showed quite a different side of the game than people were expecting. Park Vista’s defense had held the Newman offense down all quarter. Park Vista Senior Linebacker Sean Silva took most of the heavy lifting on defense being responsible for most of the pressure set on Newman Quarterback Luke Warnock.
Action picked up at the end of the second quarter when Jaylin Brown found the end zone with 2:30 left on the clock giving Newman the lead. Shortly after with what would be the highlight play of the game, Xanai Scott picked off Park Vista in the end zone and took it all the way to the house for a pick six. Giving Newman a 14-0 lead heading into halftime.
Brown would find the end zone again in the third quarter off a rushing touchdown extending the lead to a 20-0 lead after Vista blocked the extra point. Later in the quarter Luke Warnock would get his first passing touchdown of the season finding Nae’Shaun Montgomery for a forty yard touchdown.
However, the fun didn’t stop there. Backup Quarterback Jyron Hughly would find the end zone twice! Both rushing touchdowns. Securing Newman a dominant victory over Park Vista 41-0.
Newman’s dominant display tonight showed that this team is all business, and will be looking to make a deep run in the state playoffs later to come this year.
