WEST PALM BEACH – Fort Pierce Westwood is looking scary.
Tonight (Aug. 18), the Panthers traveled to Forest Hill High to face the Falcons in a kickoff classic exhibition. This matchup was extra special to watch because it was a homecoming game for Fort Pierce Westwood head coach Chris Kokell, who spent five years at Forest Hill, serving as the program’s head coach for three of those seasons.
Obviously, Kokell wanted the bragging rights to say that he was leading the better team tonight.
Early on into tonight’s contest, it became very clear that Westwood was legit. Its offense really stood out to me because they were elite both on the ground and in the air.
Westwood dominated tonight’s matchup from the opening kick to the final buzzer.
Final score: 35-6 in favor of Fort Pierce Westwood.
One of the biggest standouts was QB Eli “EJ” Weathers (’26). He was making big plays both in the passing game and in the rushing game with over 225 total yards, as well as 3 total touchdowns (2 rush, 1 pass).
Weathers’ biggest play of the night came when he completed a 15-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Colton Foster (’25). This was easily the most electric play of the night, as Foster jumped over the corner, caught the ball with his non-dominant hand, and reeled it in for an easy six.
Foster’s catch was so spectacular, even the Forest Hill PA announcer had to commend him.
Tonight’s MVP was easily RB/DB Braylon Vincent (’24). He made his presence known tonight, as he recorded over 100 yards rushing, two rushing touchdowns, a successful two-point conversion, four tackles, two pass breakups and an interception.
