HIALEAH – Ladies and gentlemen, high school football is back in South Florida.

Last night (Aug. 17), The King’s Academy traveled to Hialeah to face Mater Academy in the Kickoff Classic. After clearing a long weather delay, the game was underway.

The Lions struck first when quarterback Joe Dailey (’25) called a quarterback sneak for a 1-yard rushing touchdown. He also showed off his arm talent all evening, with his highlight pass being a 9-yard touchdown to wide receiver Reggie Workman (’24).

Dailey has shown serious improvement between his sophomore and junior seasons. His best trait as a passer has always been his elite accuracy.

Now, Dailey stands taller and more confident in the pocket, which allows him to shine even more by throwing dots into tight windows.

Another highlight of last night’s game was running back Marion Victor (’24). He led the Lions in rushing with over 75 yards and a touchdown. Regardless of Mater’s defensive game plan, Victor was exploiting them for big gains.

At halftime, there was another weather delay, so both teams agreed to end the game early.

Final score: 23-0 in favor of TKA.

TKA will use last night’s dominant win over Mater Academy as a momentum boost going into its Week 1 matchup against St. Andrew’s.
