BELLE GLADE – It’s a great time to be Jamarian Green right now.
With his first official offer coming from Oregon State on Monday night (Oct. 30), the Glades Central (Belle Glade, Fla.) 2018 athlete is in a state of gratitude for this kind of recognition. He hopes for more to come his way soon.
“It’s a blessing,” Green said. “I have been dreaming about this since last year. I like the school and football program’s personality.”
This is an interesting offer, considering the fact that Green’s friend and former high school football teammate Quantino Allen (2017 alum) plays there now as a college freshman. We’ll see how it all plays out down the road.
The timing of Green’s Oregon State offer couldn’t have been much better, given the fact that he has already been highly productive on the field in more ways than one. The Raiders defensive back has eight interceptions so far (tied for first in the state), in addition to 25 tackles, six pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Green’s best game this season came during Week 9 of the regular season against American Heritage (21-7 win), when he caught two interceptions for the Raiders defense. The 6-0, 168-pound athlete locked down Stallions 2019 wide receiver and Florida verbal commit John Dunmore throughout the game.
“I believe I played one of the best games of my high school career,” Green said. “The game was on TV (CW 34-West Palm Beach). It was a night to remember.”
Another memorable game for Green this season came in Week 6 against Oxbridge Academy (31-0 loss). He lined up against his former teammate C.J. Smith, who is one of the highest rated 2018 college football prospects in Palm Beach County.
“Oxbridge was pretty cool,” said Green, who transferred from there to Glades Central for his junior year. “Playing again my former teammates felt good. Catching a pick is something I will always remember.”
Green said he has a lasting friendship with the Oxbridge Academy 2018 athlete, who is the younger brother of UCF junior wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith.
“Me and C.J. are still close,” Green said. “We talk on Twitter. We always had that rivalry of going against each other, so it was just that type of night.”
Another potentially big game for Green could be the Muck Bowl in Week 11 against Pahokee. It will be at home, and the kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.
Green’s father, Jarman, weighed in on what his own projection is for the Muck Bowl.
“This will be one of the biggest games of his life,” Jarman said. “I expect for [Jamarian] Trey to be a coach out there on the field and put his teammates in the right now. I don’t see Pahokee throwing his way much, so this would be a great opportunity to show his leadership skills out there.”
Jarman said that his son is a coaching staff’s dream on any level of football.
“Trey is very coachable and mannerable,” Jarman Green said. “He stays humble and doesn’t get the big head. It’s the key to success in his life, and he’s showing us that he’s ahead of his time.”
