PALM BEACH GARDENS – For Jayden Vega, an important trait of being a quarterback is the ability to get his teammates behind him.
The chemistry between the leader and his support unit is paramount to any team’s level of success. This is what defines the Benjamin 2025 quarterback in more ways than one.
Since the beginning of 2023, Vega has developed bonds with his running backs and receiving corps, his offensive linemen, the rest of his teammates, the coaching staff, and the Benjamin Buccaneers program as a whole.
“I’m extremely excited about the work the entire team and coaches are putting in getting us ready for the season,” the 6-foot-1, 200-pound quarterback said. “We have a really strong team on both sides of the ball. All of the boys are really getting after it in the gym and during our speed work on the field.”

Vega revealed one thing he would like to be great at with Benjamin.
“I need to work on consistently getting better and managing the game,” he said. “Getting the ball in the playmakers hands and letting them do their thing.”
Vega has spent countless hours in developing a rhythm with his playmakers. It has showed at some points throughout the summer offseason.

For example, when Benjamin competed in the University of Miami 7-on-7 Tournament on June 25, Vega made the most of his connection opportunities.
In two full games and one partial game, Vega threw for two touchdowns each to athlete Jacob Cosby-Mosley (2024), wide receiver Matthew McKenzie (2024), and four-star standout Amaree Williams (2025). He connected on one touchdown pass to running back Chauncey Bowens (2024; Georgia commit).
Vega on Cosby-Mosley:
“Jacob is probably our team’s most versatile player,” he said. “He’s extremely explosive and dangerous with the ball in his hands. He’s a matchup problem for teams on both sides of the ball.”
Vega on McKenzie:
“Matthew has great size and length for a defensive back,” he said. “He’s an excellent cover corner and he looks fantastic at receiver too. I think he’s going to surprise a lot of people this year with his versatility.”
Vega on Williams:
“It’s easy to see why Amaree is one of the top recruits in the country”, he said. “He’s 6-5, fast and can go up for any ball. He can also play receiver and tight end. He’s an absolute nightmare to cover. On the defensive side he’s nearly impossible to block. Very quick and physical.”
Vega on Bowens:
“In my opinion it’s easy to see why Chauncey is the best back in the country,” he said. “He can do it all. He’s big, strong and extremely fast. Also has great hands out of the backfield.”
With that said, let us get to Vega’s college football recruiting process.
At this time, the Benjamin junior-to-be signal caller has one offer from Charlotte. This one was earned on January 27.

Vega on his recruiting progress:
“I think if I have a strong season, things will fall into place,” he said.
As the second half of the summer gets in full swing, the connections will continue to get stronger and better between Vega and his cohorts.
“Personally, I always strive to get better in every aspect of the game,” he said. “I love football and want to do whatever it takes to help our team be successful.”
Vega appreciates the year-round support that he gets from everyone on all levels.
“The Benjamin School administrators, teachers, and coaches all have been terrific,” he said. “I have spent a lot of time with Coach Kresser, Coach Cordrey (lacrosse) and Coach Saunders (track). They all push us student athletes to be the best players and people we can be. They really try to get the most out of us. It’s been a great experience at The Benjamin School.”

To wrap this up, Vega revealed his ultimate goal for this upcoming fall season.
“Our goal is to bring a state champion home to Benjamin,” he said. “We have many talented players in both sides of the ball. We know we have very strong opponents in front of us, but we are preparing for that each and every day.”
