WEST PALM BEACH – For the second straight year, Cardinal Newman (9-2 final record) has reigned supreme as Palm Beach County’s No. 1-ranked team.

As such, the Crusaders were rewarded last night (Dec. 4) as the Lou Groza Team of the Year – the highest high school football honor in Palm Beach County.

Cardinal Newman beat out fellow finalists Atlantic (Delray Beach) (9-2 final record) and St. Andrew’s (9-2 final record) for the top award.

Meanwhile, we witnessed a history making moment at the Lou Groza Awards Ceremony with the Player of the Year selection.

For the first time ever, a West Boca Raton high school football player won Palm Beach County’s top individual honor. It went to Bulls 2026 running back Javian Mallory, who beat out fellow nominees Jacob Cosby-Mosley (Benjamin 2024 athlete), Luke Douglas (Jupiter 2024 quarterback/athlete) and Blake Wallace (Spanish River 2025 athlete) for the honor.

Listen to Mallory’s reaction to his Player of the Year selection.

For the Coach of the Year honor, it went to Jupiter head coach Jason Kradman. He won it over fellow nominees Jamelle Murray (Atlantic) and Dylan Potts.

Listen to Kradman’s comments on winning the Coach of the Year honor.

We save the best for last with the Lou Groza Placekicker of the Year honor.

We got a two-time winner in American Heritage 2024 kicker/punter and Florida State hard verbal commit Jake Weinberg, who is rated as the nation’s No. 1-ranked kicker in his class. He earned the honor over fellow nominees Ethan Dagostino (Palm Beach Central 2025 kicker/punter) and Lily White (Benjamin 2024 kicker/punter).

Hear Weinberg’s reaction to his special honor and much more.
