BOCA RATON – Trey Rainey has been a steady force on the field over the past two seasons, to say the least.

As the clear-cut No. 1-ranked running back for the Class of 2022, the 5-foot-10, 183-pound standout made a name for himself in both his sophomore year at Boca Raton and his junior year at American Heritage (Delray Beach).

Rainey’s overall body of work speaks for itself, as he helped lead his teams to FHSAA playoff appearances with his effective level of athleticism, vision, and football IQ on display.

All of this has resulted in Rainey earning offers from Penn and Bates College. He also has garnered interest from a host of other colleges, most of which has been from the Ivy League.

“As far as the recruiting process goes, I’m keeping in touch with a variety of schools,” Rainey said. “I have the Penn and Bates offers, and I just need to continue to keep working and make relationships with these other schools. I’m keeping my options open, but I look forward to being in this process.”

With his college recruiting approach being primarily set, Rainey is focused now on his senior season. He made the decision earlier this summer to transfer from American Heritage (Delray) to his former/new home school at Boca Raton.

“I’m really looking forward to being with my old teammates and having that full senior year experience, despite COVID,” Rainey said.

Rainey recapped his summer offseason experience, which included a series of camp visits to Penn, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, Drake, Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Rhode Island.

“I have been going through summer workouts 4-5 days a week and getting our team better and better,” Rainey said.

Rainey, who is an ESPN Top 63 selection (No. 20 overall) and a Palm Beach Post Super 11 pick (No. 6 overall), is happy about returning to Boca Raton.

“So far, so good,” Rainey said. “I kept the relationships strong with the team. We’re only going to get better from here. I think we’re going to have a good season.”
