Boca Raton, FL- I didn’t have to drive far from my residence in Boca Raton in search of good football tonight.

Tonight (September 6), the Palm Beach Central Broncos faced off against the Spanish River Sharks in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2023 Regional Quarterfinals. That matchup concluded with a 36-0 victory for the Broncos, who advanced to the Region Finals.

After a few rocky starts to begin the season, the PBC Offense required a change. Leading into tonight’s matchup, it was announced that associate HC, Jeff Celestin would be the new play caller for the remainder of the season.

Coach Jeff’s offense got back into their groove immediately, headlined by an elite performance from Junior QB Chance Routson. Routson combined for well over 300 combined yards and 5 total TD’s in three quarters of play. Chance was wheeling and dealing tonight, hitting WR’s Preston Parker Jr. (twice), Kamare Williams and Tiago Mendes for his passing scores, alongside a 7 yard rushing TD.

Chance’s athleticism was on full display tonight, as QB1 was making plays with his arm and his legs. On two of Routson’s four TD passes, the talented 6 foot 3 gunslinger performed leaping throws that would make the Yankee great Derek Jeter envious.

Another highlight performance came in way from the aforementioned Preston Parker Jr., who’s shown everyone his ability to be a complete receiver. Parker displayed his talents on all aspects of the route tree, using his fast twitch ability to stretch the field deep for one TD, carving up over the middle and even attacking jump balls. The 2025 3-Star recruit has had a great beginning to his senior season

The River Boys put up a worthy offensive attack, as freshman QB Marcus Stracke looked very composed in his first start. Stracke was hitting star WRs Blake Wallace and Trent Asble for easy completions, and connected with Asble for two scoring plays. Spanish River’s run game was the star of the show tonight, as Tarrel Ocean was running all over, recording 90+ yards and 1 score. Ocean has been on fire to begin his senior campaign, and will only continue to carry momentum as the weeks go by.

Palm Beach Central improves to 2-1 on the regular season, and will face the Santaluces Chiefs on Friday, September 13. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 P.M.
