The Saint Andrew’s Scots made a statement Thursday night, powering past Nova Southeastern University (NSU) with a 45–28 victory that avenged last season’s heartbreaking 16–14 loss. The Scots built a commanding 38–7 halftime lead and never looked back.

NSU struck first, jumping out to a 7–0 lead. But the Scots responded with a 25-yard field goal from Connor Byrnes, cutting the deficit to 7–3. That kick sparked momentum, and soon Saint Andrew’s took its first lead, 10–7, a shift that set the tone for the rest of the night.

Quarterback Jack Williams led the offensive charge, tossing four touchdown passes. Two of those went to standout receiver Dylan Faison, a Notre Dame commit, while Jack Whelchel and Wesley Winn also hauled in touchdown catches.

“We didn’t start the way we wanted,” Williams admitted after the game, “but once we found our rhythm, we never looked back.”

#1 Dylan Faison

Faison credited his coaches for putting him in position to shine:

“The playcalling was excellent tonight. They put me in the right spots, and I just executed,” Faison said.

The star of the night, however, was junior playmaker Jack Whelchel. He scored two game-changing touchdowns on back-to-back possessions—a receiving touchdown followed immediately by a pick-six that electrified the Scots’ sideline and crowd.

#4 Jack Whelchel

Whelchel’s impact fueled the team’s energy in what he labeled a “revenge game” after last year’s loss to NSU. With his versatility and knack for big plays, Whelchel is emerging as a player to watch in Palm Beach County football.

Now at 3–0, head coach Jimmy Robertson has his team firing on all cylinders heading into Monday’s matchup against St. John Paul II.

Saint Andrew’s has made its intentions clear: this season is about sending a message to the rest of the county.
