LANTANA – The Santaluces Chiefs are looking to build off a 19-0 win over the West Boca Raton Bulls as they prepare for district play.
Santaluces (1-2) was able to shut out West Boca (0-3). The Chiefs didn’t play a perfect game, but they simply overmatched the Bulls on their way to a 19-0 victory.
Andy St. Hillaire would give the Bulls fits as he blocked their punt in the first quarter to get the Chiefs offense the ball after a Santaluces recovery.
The Chiefs’ first score would come on a 11-yard run by Brian Coe Jr. He rumbled his way through a host of West Boca defenders to put his team ahead before the end of the first quarter.
The Chiefs second score would come on a short run by athlete Justin Raymonvil, which gave them a 12-0 lead before halftime.
After trading a few three-and-outs, the Chiefs were able to score midway through the fourth quarter on a 20-yard pass from quarterback Tyler Kintz to wideout Lawrence Armstead.
The Chiefs defense played lights out as they held the Bulls offense in check for most of the game.
Senior defensive tackle Darnell Jean-Louis recorded three sacks for the Chiefs. Senior defensive end Angerlyns Julceus also recorded three sacks against the Bulls and seemed to be around the ball all night.
Julceus was named the game’s Most Valuable Player for the Chiefs.
“Our kids played hard,” Santaluces head coach Brian Coe said. “The defense has been playing hard for the last three weeks, and offensively we were able to make more positive plays than mistakes. It showed us how all the little things can lead to a win.”
Santaluces will be on the road in Week 4 to take on crosstown rival John I. Leonard for the start of District 10-8A play.
