PALM BEACH COUNTY – Football is fully in the air in our area, and Week 4 is no different with all but one team in the county suiting up to play this Friday (Oct. 2).
The one school not playing this week due to a bye is No. 1 American Heritage-Delray (1-1). The Stallions have quickly cemented themselves as the best private school team in the county (for now), which was highlighted by a convincing 24-3 win at home against Benjamin in Week 3.
Overall, eight Palm Beach County private school teams will suit up against each other in four different games.
AFTERNOON IN BOCA: Boca Raton Christian (0-2) vs. Berean Christian (0-3) – 4 p.m. kickoff
Both sides are searching for their first win and with it still early in the season for the most part, capturing that first win now could signal a catapult for the rest of the season.
This game is going to be close, as these two teams seem to be evenly matched. Expect this game to come down to the wire, as both sides try and turn around their fortunes.
There simply is not a clear winner in a game like this.
Score prediction: 24-21 win for Boca Raton Christian
AFTERNOON SHOWDOWN IN JUPITER: No. 5 Jupiter Christian (2-0) vs. Glades Day (1-1) – 4 p.m. kickoff
This isn’t last season’s Jupiter Christian.
After winning just one game last season, the Eagles have rung off two consecutive wins and have all the momentum to capture even more victories. Their two wins against Berean Christian and Boca Raton Christian are solid, but the momentum has to be carried forward.
On the other end, Glades Day has proven itself to be a pretty strong team early in the season. The Gators competed with King’s Academy in the first half of their Week 2 game and defeated Berean Christian 27-6 in Week 3.
Expect a close matchup, as the two sides seem to be evenly matched.
Score prediction: 23-19 win for Glades Day
GAME OF WEEK 4: No. 2 St. John Paul II (2-0) vs. No. 4 King’s Academy (2-1) – 6:30 p.m. kickoff
A good start to the season doesn’t come as a shock for King’s Academy. The Lions are usually a strong bunch, and the 2-1 start is proof that they should be able to compete with most teams.
On the other side is an undefeated St. John Paul II, who have rattled off two quick wins against Berean Christian and Westminster Academy early in the season. This Eagles team isn’t a pushover and this win against King’s Academy should prove it.
Score prediction: 31-26 win for St. John Paul II
HOME OPENER: Benjamin (0-1) vs. Archbishop McCarthy (Ft. Lauderdale) (0-1) – 7 p.m. kickoff
Benjamin had a tough matchup in its opening game, as the young team was asked to contain a strong American Heritage-Delray Beach collective. Despite the 24-3 loss, positives were shown by the Buccaneers and they’ll hope they can continue that in their home opener.
Last season, Benjamin dominated Archbishop McCarthy, defeating them 41-15. Expect another win for Benjamin.
Score prediction: 38-18 win for Benjamin
BACK AT THE CRIB: No. 3 Cardinal Newman (1-1) vs. Doral Academy (0-0) vs. – 7 p.m. kickoff
Cardinal Newman has had a strong start. In its first game against a Palm Beach County opponent, the Crusaders rattled off a 35-14 victory over King’s Academy.
Now, Cardinal Newman will continue its season against a Doral Academy team that finished 2019 with a 5-5 record.
Score prediction: 32-23 win for Cardinal Newman
