Heading into the Super Bowl, there has been speculation about safety Nick Emmanwori playing due to a low-ankle sprain he suffered while making a pass breakup during a live team period in Wednesday’s practice.
In the Bird’s open media session yesterday- Feburary, 5, Seahawks head coach Mike MacDonald confirmed that Emmanwori will be “fully expected to play” in the biggest game of the year.
“He’s doing great, and moving around…” Coach Macdonald said. “…Just got to make sure we handle it the right way, and probably going to be overcareful and overcautious at this point.”
Later on in media, the 2026 Defensive Rookie of the Year runner up Emmanwori would himself confirm his availability for Sunday’s matchup vs the New England Patriots.
“It’s nothing too serious to be even worried about,” Emmanwori said. “I definitely feel good and know myself and I’ll be ready to go.”
Nick Emmanwori had tweaked his ankle earlier in the 2025-26 season, during Seattle’s Week 1 Loss vs the San Francisco 49ers. After reflecting on both incidents, the 2nd round pick out of South Carolina stated that the first dealing was more impactful and ‘didn’t even wake up sore’ on Thursday Morning.

Although the Seahawks 2025 second-round pick didn’t practice yesterday, it’s most likely for precaution, due to the fact that he needs as much rest as possible in order to play.
Nick Emmanwori appeared in 14 games during the regular season, recording 81 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks, one interception and 11 pass breakups. Emmanwori served as the most versatile piece on one of the League’s top defenses, lining up at at practically every position. Without Emmanwori, Seattle’s whole defensive scheme changes, therefore, it’s key that he plays in Super Bowl 60.
