WEST PALM BEACH – Cardinal Newman’s Dallas Desouza has been flying under college scouts’ radars for the past few years.
The 5-foot-10 wide receiver has quietly been one of Palm Beach County’s best players throughout his entire career at Cardinal Newman. He has received official offers from Bethune-Cookman and Charlotte.
Despite his on-field production, Desouza has not received any stars.
When asked about his thoughts on this, Desouza said:
“It just means for me to keep working harder honestly,” Desouza said. “As an undersized player who is being overlooked, I use that as motivation for me to go harder than anyone else on the field. I have that mentality of never giving up, so that and my work ethic is what separates me from everybody else.”
In 2022, Desouza recorded:
•27 receptions
•359 receiving yards
•8 receiving touchdowns
•5 total tackles
•1 interception (returned for touchdown)
When asked about his junior season, Desouza said:
“My junior season was a huge improvement from my sophomore year,” he said. “I touched the ball more and got in the end zone way more. I’m not proud of my stats because I know I could do better. But I’m grateful to be able to show my talent every way I can. It was fun and I did my best to make every opportunity count. I definitely plan on doubling all of my stats from my junior year and having a way better senior season.”

Desouza’s best game in 2022 was in Week 11 against Gulliver Prep, when he recorded:
•5 receptions
•99 receiving yards
•2 receiving touchdowns
When asked about his performance against Gulliver, Desouza said:
“We came out with something to prove because of the last time we played them,” he said. “So that was a huge get-back game for us. We came with a chip on our shoulder and we got done what we needed to. We came out a bit rough, but throughout the game we started to improve and started to put up the points and get the stops that we needed, which led us to a huge victory. Great team win that day.”

This summer, Dallas attended two 7-on-7 tournaments this summer: USF and Keiser. He also attended the FAU Night in Paradise Camp and the TOP Gun Camp in Naples.
When asked about his experiences this summer, Desouza said:
“These camps made me better. I learned new techniques and went against great competition to better myself as a player and prepare me for this upcoming season,” he said. “At tournaments, it helps me try things that I learned and see how effective it really was. I plan on using these techniques I learned during my senior season. Stay tuned.”

Desouza is poised for a breakout senior season at Cardinal Newman. With a stacked Crusaders team, do not lose sight of him.
If you do, you will regret it.
