Cameron Skattebo is Arizona State’s weapon running back. With only two seasons as a Sun Devil, he has become the star out in Tempe. His performance in the Peach Bowl was no different, leading him to win the Offensive MVP.

ASU fell 24-8 going into the fourth quarter; Skattebo was the driving force for a 16-point run to head into overtime. He threw a 42-yard dime to Malik McClain, ran for a 2-yard touchdown, and dove in for a two-point conversion to tie the game. Skattebo had 2 touchdowns, rushed 30 times for 143 yards, and also led ASU in receiving with 8 catches for 99 yards.

Skattebo has been a key player for this first-year Big 12 team. The school went back to back with 3-9 records, where they turned it around this year, going 11-3 and winning the Big 12 Championship. Cam is also ranked the 8th-best national running back in the class of 2025 and the No. 135 prospect overall, according to CBS Sports prospect rankings.

Skattebo has broken 3 Arizona State single-season records this year. This includes rushing touchdowns (21), total touchdowns (24), and rushing yards (1,711). He is also the first FBS player since Christian McCaffrey in 2015 to rack up 1,500 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season.

He has been recognized throughout this entire season for his performance on the field. This includes:

  • Top 5 Heisman Trophy Finalists
  • 2x AP Player of the Week
  • All-Big 12 First Team
  • Reese’s Senior Bowl invite
  • AP All-American First Team
  • 5x Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week
  • 3x Doak Walker Award National RB of the Week
  • CBS All-American First Team
  • College Football Network Second-Team Midseason All-American
  • Maxwell Award Semi-Finalist
  • Doak Walker Award Semi-Finalist
  • Peach Bowl Offensive MVP
  • Maxwell Award Player of the Year Watchlist
  • Paul Hornung Award Watch List

As a senior at ASU, Cameron Skattebo is likely to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. Even with being a Top-5 Heisman Trophy finalist, many believe that Skattebo will likely be picked in the third round. He was a zero-star recruit out of high school and transformed from Sacramento State to Arizona State in 2023 but has since been breaking record after record. Will Cameron Skattebo declare for the draft? And if so, when will he be picked?
