WELLINGTON – Javorian Wimberly’s freshman season at Palm Beach Central was a learning experience.

The 5-foot-9, 150-pound wide receiver hauled in 7 passes for 100+ and 1 touchdown, including a scoring catch against Olympic Heights to help his team snag a 53-0 win in Week 3. His moment was made possible by a passing play from fellow sophomore-to-be and budding quarterback Ahmad Haston.

“I was coming across the field and Ahmad threw it,” Wimberly said. “I took it for 70 yards and scored.”

Wimberly recapped his freshman year.

“It was great,” Wimberly said. “It felt like I was a senior because all the seniors loved me. They used to take me to games and let eat out with them. It was a fun experience.”

Last season’s team leader for the Broncos was quarterback Anarjahe Douriet, a recent high school graduate who will soon enroll at UCF and attempt to earn a walk-on roster spot on its college football program.

“He was a great dude and a great quarterback,” the Broncos wideout said.

With that said, Wimberly will now get a chance to forge his own identity and a level of chemistry with Haston this upcoming season.

“Ahmad’s kind of like a laid-back person,” Wimberly said. “He’s a very cool guy off the field. He’s down to workout any time. He’s also funny, but doesn’t have much to say about things.”

The offseason has been a great time for that chemistry to be built between Wimberly and Haston. The current COVID-19 pandemic has provided a series of challenges for Wimberly, but he did not let it stop him from working to improve his craft.

“I have been doing good by working out every day with Ahmad,” Wimberly said. “Sometimes we will go to the hills to run them, or we will just go out and run routes. I’m just trying to make sure me and him are on the right page.”

Wimberly has set some goals for himself and his team for this upcoming season at Palm Beach Central. He wants to have at least 1,000 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns, while helping the Broncos earn an undefeated regular season for the first time in school history and a deep playoff run.

Most of all, he would like to see his entire class stay with each other at Palm Beach Central throughout their high school years.

“That’s what we trying to do,” Wimberly said. “If we keep our boys together, we can bring one home. I heard a lot of people have been talking about Palm Beach Central’s 2023 class. We’re taking over.”
