SOUTH FLORIDA – The Class of 2016 running backs from Palm Beach County will all be starters on their respective college football teams.

Travis Homer (University of Miami), Shawndarrius Phillips (Florida International University), and Devin Singletary (Florida Atlantic University) will power the three FBS South Florida college football teams this season as starting running backs.

A graduate of Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award Watch List nominee has been nothing short of amazing since coming to the University of Miami. The standout running back has put himself in the conversation as one of the nation’s top running backs.

The 2017 All-ACC Second Team selection finished the previous season with 1,203 all-purpose yards (966 rushing yards on 163 attempts; 5.9 yards per carry; eight rushing touchdowns; three 100-yard games in 13 games of action).

Phillips is a graduate of Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach. He has come into his own as of late by coming onto the scene and seeing a significant amount of playing time for FIU during the 2017 season.

Phillips saw action in 13 games as a backup running back and racked up 647 all-purpose yards (469 rushing yards on 104 attempts; 4.5 yards per carry; four rushing touchdowns).

Singletary is a graduate of American Heritage-Delray Beach. “Motor” has been an impact player for FAU from Day 1 and hasn’t looked back since taking over at running back in his freshman year with the Owls.

Singletary was stellar for FAU this past year as he ran for 1,920 yards on 301 attempts (6.4 yards per carry) and racked up 32 touchdowns. He was named the Conference USA Most Valuable Player this past season and he was mentioned as a player that deserved to be a candidate for the Heisman Trophy.

Homer, Phillips, and Singletary have proven their worth in the college ranks thus far in more ways than one. It will be interesting to see the production this trio brings this year as the college football season is fast approaching.
