Boca Raton, FL.- One of the top Head Coaching vacancies has officially been filled.

Moments ago it was announced that Spanish River (Boca Raton) would be hiring Offensive Coordinator Nick LaSala as the newest Head Coach of the ‘RiverBoyz’.

Nick LaSala is a familiar name in the 561, as he was one of the top stars in our area during the late 2000’s-early 2010’s. LaSala served as the man under center for the American Heritage (Delray) from 2009-2012, leading the Stallions to two FHSAA State Titles (1A 2009, 3A 2011). Nick LaSala was also honored as a ‘Top 50 recruit in South Florida’ by the Miami Herald, while earning First Team All-County honors by the Palm Beach Post.

Following his time at AHD, Nick LaSala went on to play collegiate football at Stetson University, before getting into coaching. Coach Lasala would reunite with his former high school Coach, Doug Socha at Keiser University, serving as the Seahawks’ Tight Ends Coach.

Professionally- Nick spent three with the Buffalo Bills as a Defensive Intern. While in Buffalo, Coach LaSala’s knowledge for the game grew tenfold. When asked about his time with the Bills, Coach LaSala said:

“I learned so much just by osmosis. I’m an offensive guy, interned on defense…. What an incredible opportunity to learn that side of the football at the highest level.”

This past spring, Coach Nick LaSala returned home to the 561 to become Spanish River’s offensive coordinator. In just a short period of time in Boca, Coach LaSala’s impact has transformed this squad.

I’m personally extremely excited to see the continued development of River’s 4-Star QB Champ Smith (’27). Over the past few weeks, Coach LaSala has elevated Smith’s game to levels he couldn’t imagine.

“I am really excited for Coach Lasala!” Smith expressed. “He has a very bright football mind and a passion for the game. River definitely got better by hiring him. My biggest growth this spring because of Coach Lasala was him teaching me about what it takes to get to the levels above high-school and how to be an elite processor of the game!”

Coach LaSala’s time in Buffalo is about to become really handy in Boca. Spanish River’s star DB Kai Sainmervil (’27) spoke about his development over the past few weeks, alongside the growth inside the locker room:

“I’m super excited to have Coach LaSala as our new Head Coach. He’s already elevated not just my game but the whole team’s. Coach LaSala has shown us a real taste of what it takes to compete at the next level, and I speak for everyone by saying that we couldn’t be more grateful.”

Throughout my multiple viewings this spring: Coach LaSala has brought a technical hands on approach to this offense. During my first practice covering the ‘RiverBoyz’ this spring, Coach Nick was primarily working fundamentals with the receiving corps, working on different releases and approaches to the route tree.

Coach LaSala and Spanish River will most certainly boast the most modern “Pro-Style” offense to help prepare his squad to play at the next level.
