Another fun Florida prospect is off the board, this time in the form of Spanish River’s Derek Goulbourne.
The wideout announced his commitment on Wednesday, choosing the Army Black Knights over Western Kentucky, Albany, Samford, and more. Goulbourne took a visit to Army last week, setting up his commitment this week.

Asked about his commitment, Gouldbourne spoke highly about many aspects of the Army football program.
“The brotherhood at Army is something that immediately stood out to me, and that something I wanted to be a part of. My recruitment process started a little late, which was understandable since I started playing my freshman year. Army made me feel very wanted and appreciated, and I knew it was the school when I was speaking with the other players on the team. It felt like a real bond.
I see myself fitting into the program because they hold a lot of values that I have. I’m going in ready to work hard, earn my spot, and hopefully be a playmaker. The offense will get a playmaker in me, of course, as well as someone who is going to do whatever the team needs from me in order to win. Army will help me mold into a great man and offer me prestigious education. GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!”
In 2025, the Spanish River standout had 430 yards and four touchdowns, and he had 337 yards in 2024. He possesses nice speed, good route running, and impressive contact balance after the catch. Alongside Jayden Elder, Goulbourne provides a fun, all-around skillset that should allow the Sharks to attack opponents through the air in 2026.

With just 11 seconds left before the break, QB Jaeden Phillips (@jphillips2_) connects with Derek Goulbourne (@GoulbourneDerek) for the touchdown. The Sharks take a commanding 35–0 lead into halftime — which means we’ll see the mercy rule… pic.twitter.com/Ge9voXTQpD
An underrated prospect in the Palm Beach area, Goulbourne is a breakout candidate, as I think he will be able to show off his skillset in a major way once again. Army was one of the few teams to recognize this in the recruiting process, and as it stands now, they look to have a potential steal in the 2027 class.
