WEST PALM BEACH – Andrew MacMillan has had a senior year to remember at Cardinal Newman.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound kicker/punter finished his last high school football season as a Fab50 kicker by Kornblue Kicking. The 4.5-star specialist was also recently selected to the Class 3A All-State First Team on special teams.

MacMillan was even selected as a Battle on the Beach All-Star this past January. And in addition to that, he was selected as New Era Prep’s Special Teams Player of the Year for Private Schools.

To top it off, the No. 1-ranked specialist in Palm Beach County made his decision earlier yesterday (March 3) to play college football for Delaware.

“I always had a dream of playing a Division 1 sport, and when I made my switch to football, I knew it could come true,” MacMillan said. “I worked very hard and accomplished more than I thought I could. My recruiting started out slow and once I got an offer from the University of Delaware, I felt everything finally paid off. When I visited, it immediately felt like home and I knew it was the place I want to be.”

MacMillan received his offer from Delaware on January 26. He took his visit to the FCS school on February 23.

All of this was possible due to what the Crusaders kicker/punter accomplished in his senior campaign and more.

In 12 games that past season, MacMillan converted seven of his eight field goal attempts, while converting 48 of his 50 point after attempts. He had 72 kickoffs – 61 of which went for touchbacks – and had 22 punts for a 40.6-yard average.

MacMillan, the only kicker in Palm Beach County who was selected as an ESPN Top 63 player for his class, reflected on his best individual moment of the season.

“I would say just seeing how the hard work during the offseason and the many trainings trying to perfect my craft finally paid off with a very successful senior season,” said MacMillan, who also played in the Palm Beach County-Treasure Coast All-Star Game and Blue-Grey All-American Bowl Game.

“Couldn’t ask for a better senior season,” MacMillan said. “Playing next to some of my best friends was amazing. I always felt loved and appreciated by all my teammates and all of the coaching staff.”
