FORT LAUDERDALE- What happens when you face two top ten teams in the country against each other? You get a great game of high school football.

Last night (August 26), #3 St. John Bosco (CA) traveled to South Florida to face #9 St. Thomas Aquinas in the Broward County High School Football Showcase. This high powered matchup had all of the makings to become a true classic, and I believe it didn’t disappoint.

This game had national repercussions, because Aquinas was the last team to defeat Bosco on the road, back in 2017. Since then, St. John Bosco has not lost a game on the road (16 games).

The Aquinas student section was packed and bouncing from the opening kick. On the flip side, the Bosco faithful made the 2,300 mile trip to watch the Bellflower Braves play.

The Braves struck first, when quarterback Caleb Sanchez (’24) found receiver Daniel Odom (’26) for a 50-yard receiving touchdown. The score stayed at 7-0 for the remainder of the first half.

After the half, Aquinas struck back, when quarterback Andrew Indorf (’25) found receiver James Madison II (’24) for a diving catch in the end zone. Bosco then drove down the field, ending their drive in a field goal. As Aquinas completes a three-and-out on offense, Bosco took their momentum, pushing the ball down the field. Bosco ended their drive when Caleb Sanchez found receiver Madden Williams (’26) in the back of the end zone, extending their lead 17-7.

Bosco struck right back when defensive back, Tay Lockett (’26) intercepted Indorf’s pass. The Braves chewed the clock as they drove the field, scoring a field goal with less than three minutes left in the game.

Aquinas could not find the endzone, ending the game with a final score 20-7 St. John Bosco.
