A top 50 running back in the 2027 class has set his spring visit schedule, and it is filled with some heavy hitters.
Over the months of March and April, Santaluces standout Kelsey Gerald has visited, and is set to visit, the following schools:
- March 7th: Florida State
- March 13th: USF
- March 26th: Georgia
- March 28th: Auburn
- March 31st: Miami (FL)
- April 4th: Kentucky
- April 6th: Cal
- April 11th: Indiana
- April 15th: Virginia Tech
- April 18th: Ohio State
Asked about what he is looking for in a school, Gerald gave a very thoughtful answer.
“I am looking for a team that has brotherhood, that can fix mistakes, that has leaders, and that can come together as a unit. The biggest things I want in a program are a place that can develop me to not only be a great football player, but can also help me become a better man. Another key thing is a program that isn’t scared to give younger guys opportunities to play and put them in the best position to succeed.”
Gerald, according to 24/7 Sports, has 36 offers and is ranked, according to the 24/7 Composite Rankings, as the 39th running back in the 2027 class. He had a monster 2025 season, posting over 1,400 rushing yards and over 10+ touchdowns on the season between the ground and the air.
Gerald is extremely explosive as a runner, racing past defenders in the open field with ease. He has also displayed great vision and contact balance, bouncing off defenders while still picking up chunk yardage. Gerald is even a threat as a pure pass catcher; whether out of the backfield or split out wide, the running back showed at Santaluces that he can create big plays in a variety of ways.
The running back’s recruitment process is one worth following closely, as it is clear that schools have recognized the talent that the running back possesses. How they build on their initial offers and visits will likely be a key factor in landing the Florida native, as Gerald has the talent to instantly improve an offense, to put it lightly.
