One of the best wideouts in the 2027 class has made his commitment decision, and he is staying home.
Nick Lennear, the star wide receiver who stood out for Miami Northwestern and transferred to Miami Carol City, committed to Miami (FL) on Thursday night during the school’s “305 Day.” Lennear joins fellow upper-tier wideout commit Ah’Mari Stevens in the Hurricanes’ 2027 class and is the fifth overall commit for the school. He chose the Hurricanes over LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State, and Syracuse.

In 2025, the star wideout, according to MaxPreps, posted seven touchdowns for Miami Northwestern and had 135 yards, along with a touchdown, in the state championship game against Jacksonville Raines. A participant in the 2026 Navy All-American Bowl, Lennear notched 49 yards and a touchdown as an underclassman. The receiver has also been a major standout on the 7-on-7 circuit over the past few years.
In terms of his rankings in the 2027 class, 24/7 Sports has the wideout ranked 16th overall and 3rd among receivers. Rivals/On3 ranks Lennear as the 26th-overall player in the class and 6th among wideouts.
A dynamic playmaker who has thrived all over the field, Lennear is a big-time pickup for the Hurricanes. He is truly a threat to score whenever the ball is in his hands because of his explosiveness. The star wideout has a great ability to separate from opposing defensive backs in the intermediate and deep areas of the field with speed and route-running. Additionally, Lennear can play through contact, as he has made countless impressive contested catches across a wide variety of games.
Once he arrives on campus, Lennear is the rare type of player who has a real shot to follow in the footsteps of Malachi Toney, especially in terms of playing as an underclassman. Possessing the explosiveness, route-running, and play-making ability of an upper-tier player, Lennear has a great chance to put on a show for his hometown team early on in his college career.
