JUPITER- Ladies and Gentlemen, I have a two-for to start your day.

The Douglas brothers from Jupiter High, Luke (QB) and Preston (TE/DE) are the New Era Prep Week 7 MVP and Offensive Player of the Week. Luke was voted as MVP by 29% of our Twitter viewers, and Preston was voted as Offensive Player of the Week by 33% of our viewers. For those that do not know, you can find all of our weekly superlatives on the New Era Prep Twitter account!

When asked about their victories this week, Luke and Preston said:

“Having the honor of winning MVP for the 561 is a feat that I’ve always wanted to achieve.” Luke said. “To win it now, it shows that the work i’m putting in is working, which enhances my motivation for the rest of the season. It’s a privilege to play with my brother at this level, many can say that they were able to play along side their brother but something that makes it truly specially is me being able to throw repetitive touchdown passes to him.”

“Winning offensive player is obviously super cool and shows the love our Jupiter community gives us.” Preston said. “Playing with Luke is a blessing because we have had a connection growing up that has helped us excel on the field. It is many peoples dream but our reality.”

Last Friday (October 6), the 5-1 Jupiter High Warriors faced 1-5 Stoneman Douglas at home. The Douglas brothers kindly welcomed the Eagles to their home, as Luke went 10/11 for 231 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns, with another 76 yards rushing and 2 rushing touchdowns. Most of Luke’s impressive numbers came to his brother, Preston, who recorded 5 receptions for 170 yards and all 3 passing touchdowns. Halfway through the third quarter, both brothers were pulled from the game, and got to enjoy the remainder of the 35-6 victory on the sidelines.

When asked about their performances this week, the Douglas brothers said:

“I for sure had a career performance against MSD.” Luke said. “The team played well and had few mistakes. Following the game, our team is extremely excited to go into every game left on our schedule, to continue building each week for our goals at the end of the season. Those including winning districts, hosting a playoff game, and making a playoff run.”

“My game against MSD was a career type game going for 3 touchdowns and 170 yards.” Preston said “I truly couldn’t of done any of that with out my teammates doing their job and setting me up to win. We expect to not loose the rest of the regular season and keep playing like we have.”

Congratulations Luke and Preston! This week, the Super Douglas Bros. and the Jupiter High Warriors will face Palm Beach Lakes at home on Thursday, October 12. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 P.M.
