DELRAY BEACH – It is a much-agreed upon conclusion that Jake Weinberg is the best specialist in Palm Beach County.

The American Heritage (Delray Beach) 2024 kicker/punter was a Lou Groza High School Placekicker of the Year nominee last year as a sophomore. He has been also rated as a five-star kicker and the nation’s No. 1 overall kicker by Kohl’s Kicking.

Weinberg was even selected for the Class 4A Second Team All-State Offense as a kicker by Florida High School Football.

And now, Weinberg is the first kicker in New Era Prep history to be ranked in the Top 25 (No. 25 overall ranking) as a junior.

With all of these much-deserved honors coming his way, the 5-foot-10 kicker has earned two offers from Youngstown State (May 18) and FAU (June 16).

We were able to catch up with Weinberg at last month’s Pat O’Donnell Football Camp, held at Somerset Academy Canyons on July 9 and July 10.

“It was truly a blessing,” Weinberg said of how he earned his offers. “I was just so thankful to get a chance to kick in front of the coaches. I just tried to kick as best as I could. Thankfully, I was blessed to be offered. It’s just all about doing the same thing you do every time and just making sure you make your kicks.”

Weinberg’s sophomore season at American Heritage (Delray Beach) was one to remember. He connected on a personal best 47-yard field goal in Week 6 at Benjamin – one of many highlights from his 2021 campaign.

“It was a great year for me,” Weinberg said. “I’m just excited to play this upcoming season. We have a new coach (Brian Van Gorder) and everything. We’re looking good this year.”
