Atlanta, GA.- Happy New Year from Cam Skattebo and the Arizona State Sun Devils!

This afternoon, the Texas Longhorns faced the Arizona State Sun Devils in the 2025 Peach Bowl. Texas took an immediate 7-3 lead over Arizona State, as Quinn Ewers found DeAndre Moore for a 23 yard score. The Longhorns pilled on the points moments later as Silas Bolden broke off a 75 yard punt return TD (14-3, 7:08 1st).

Throughout the first half, nothing could go Arizona State’s way. Texas seemed to be scoring at will, their offense would gain momentum, only to be put behind the sticks and forced to kick field goals. Unfortunately for the Sun Devils, Arizona State couldn’t convert on special teams situations, shooting far left.

As for Texas, the Longhorn offense maintained their lead, but couldn’t come away with any more momentum shifting points, as they settled for 3 points to bring us to a 17-3 halftime score.

Midway through the 3rd Quarter, Arizona State gets stuffed on a goal line stand, putting the Longhorn offense back on the field, just outside of their own end zone. Immediately, the Sun Devils forces fumble, recovered by Texas, but stuffed for a safety (17-5, 7:38 3rd).

This moment sparked the shift in today’s game, as shortly after, The Sun Devils poked down their first 3 pointer of the afternoon, cutting the lead to 17-8 at the end of the 3rd.

As the 4th Quarter began, Texas found the end zone as Quinn Ewers rushed for a 5 yard score, extending their lead 24-8. But as Texas’ offense waltzed off the field, the Cam Skattebo show began.

On a crucial 4th down play, the Sun Devils’ RB helped Arizona State enter the end zone for the first time today, tossing a 43 yard dime to Malik McClain, with his offense converting the 2 point try shortly after (24-16, 6:31 4). Two plays later, Ewers throws an errant pass over the top, which get’s picked off by the Devs.

Arizona State immediately gets into the redzone as QB Sam Leavitt found Skattebo for a huge gain. Skattebo would call his number again, punching in a 2 yard score and converting the 2 point try in the process (24-24, 5:00).

Both squads would be forced to punt in the next few minutes, causing Texas to get into FG range. The Longhorns MISSED the go ahead score, sending things to Overtime.

Arizona State got the ball first, and began marching down the field. When the Sun Devils needed it most, Leavitt put his head down and drove for a 13 yard gain, putting Arizona State inside the five. Skattebo clocked his third score of the day, fighting in for a 3 yard Touchdown.

Texas pulled out an electric 4th down conversion, as Ewers hit Matthew Golden for a 23 yard score, tying things for a second OT. Immediately, Texas strikes again as Quinn Ewers finds Gunner Healm for another TD (2 Pt good).

Unfortunately, Arizona State’s luck ran out, as Leavitt throws a goal line interception. Texas emerges this 2OT bout victorious, defeating Arizona State 39-31.
