The Chiefs Dominate: Santaluces wins 38-6 over Miami Killian

Lantana, Florida. On May 17, 2024 the Santaluces Chiefs faced off against the Miami Killian Cougars for their spring game.

Both teams looked to roll into the fall with some momentum. Last season the Chiefs had a record of (8-4) making it to the playoffs, as for the Cougars they went (3-7).

In the first quarter of action, new starting quarterback Chris Siska opened up the scoring with a 50+ rushing touchdown to help give the Chiefs a 7-0 lead over Miami Killian.

After a quick stop by the Santaluces defense, the Chiefs were back on offense. On this drive Wide Receiver Chris Browder caught a 55+ yard ball to put the Chiefs in great field position at the Cougars 10 yard line. Santaluces would end up settling for a field goal which added to their lead to make it 7-0.

After what looked to be a promising drive for Miami Killian. The Chiefs were able to force a turnover on downs.

In the second quarter with the ball back, Santaluces’ Israel Marion ran the ball into the endzone to add to the score, giving the Chiefs a 17-0 lead.

Santaluces was able to get the ball back after a short drive from the Cougars, they immediately went back to work as QB Chris Siska connected with receiver Israel Marion to place the chiefs in the redzone.

WR Israel Marion was able to find the endzone again to close out the first half and give the Chiefs a 24-0 lead going into the half.

To commence the second half, Miami Killian had a solid drive going, mixing in the running and passing game well. However the drive came to an end on a dropped 4th down pass.

On the first play of the chiefs new possession. QB Chris Siska connected with another target, Wide Receiver Caden Gordon, on a 70 yard touchdown pass. This increased the Chiefs lead to make the score 31-0.

Although the Chiefs were hoping to get a shutout, the Cougars were not going down without a fight. They scored a touchdown on a beautiful deep pass, Miami Killian would then go for the two-point conversion which they would not convert. This would bring the score to 31-6.

The rest of the game would be close with just one more touchdown scored by Santaluces’ Wide Receiver Anatay Smith, making the final score 38-6, in favor of the Santaluces Chiefs.

The Chiefs played a great game on both sides of the ball. Head Coach Hector Clavijo explained how he hopes to build on this in the coming fall.

The Cougars will play at home against Everglades Prep Academy on Friday Aug.23 at 6:30pm
