WELLINGTON – The new era of Palm Beach Central football begins now.
After a spectacular 2022-23 season, which included a 9-1 regular season record and the Broncos reaching their first state semifinal appearance in school history, this collective has a very bright future ahead of them.
One reason: One of the brightest young stars at Central is their quarterback Caleb Butler.
Butler (’26) is a 6-foot-1, 177-pound pound pro-style quarterback. One of Butler’s biggest strengths is his ability to pick apart opposing defenses with his elite accuracy and highlight reel throws.
Despite throwing into very tight windows, Butler is able to perfectly place the ball somewhere only his receivers can grab it. Although he is very young, Butler’s field vision and decision making is just as good as any seasoned veteran.
I have had the privilege of watching Butler play over the past few years in both high school games and in the 7-on-7 circuit. My favorite thing to watch is the swagger and confidence he carries himself with. He goes into every drive with the confidence that his team will score no matter what.
Butler’s unwavering desire to win helps rally and bring out the very best in his teammates. He truly is the fearless leader that every player and coach wants on their team. All of Butler’s coaches and teammates have high praise about him.
Caleb Butler and his head coach, Kevin Thompson, have one of the strongest Player-Coach bonds in Palm Beach County. Both Butler and Thompson have nothing but praise for each other.
When asked about Butler and his leadership, Coach Thompson said:
“We’re really proud of Caleb and all the things he’s accomplished so far,” Thompson said. “He really works hard, and he’s a great leader in the locker room. The kids respect him in there. We’re just really proud of him and his growth.”
When asked about his relationship with Coach Thompson, Caleb Butler said:
“Coach Thompson is 100% without a doubt the best coach in the country! I trust that man with my life. I wouldn’t want any coach except him.”
When asked about their connection and chemistry with Butler, ATH Nedrick Boldin (’25) and ATH Leon Williams (’24), said:
“Caleb is an amazing guy,” Boldin said. “He works hard for everything and nothing is given to him. We both came from the bottom. All of hard work through the days where we wanted to quit, made us better and stronger. Now it’s all coming together.”
“I grew up playing with Caleb,” Williams said. “He is an extremely hard worker, great leader, and a good friend. I feel like he going to step into his role on the team and he is going to do some great things this upcoming season.”
Recently, Butler received his first two offers from North Palm Beach Prep (June 8) and Western Kentucky (June 15).
When asked about receiving his first Division I offer from Western Kentucky, Butler said:
“Well as soon as he [offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Drew Hollingshead] called me, there was an electric wave of excitement that went though my body. As soon as he told me that he would like to offer me, my heart just was going insane and I was excited for myself. I also knew that I had to be ready for the next step, not only in my football career, but in life too.”
I am very THANKFUL to earn my FIRST D1 offer from Western Kentucky University!!!!!🔴⚪️ #gotoppers @CoachDBrown27 @WKUCoachDrew @CoachT_22 @coachjeff26 @RodGodfrey4 @larryblustein @RyanWrightRNG @EraPrep @JerryRecruiting pic.twitter.com/JtdAqGjkLJ
