WEST PALM BEACH, FL – It was certainly a night to remember at The King’s Academy, their first home playoff game since the 2020-21 season. What added to the hype around the game was that they would be facing a familiar opponent from an earlier game this season.

Kings stuck first as Joe Dailey scooted in to the endzone on a two yard rush, giving the Lions a quick 7-0 lead. Somerset responded later in the quarter with a rushing touchdown of their own from Tristan Johnson, tying the game at 7 a piece to end the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, Kings took back the lead as Joe Dailey found Javian Jones for a touchdown. Kings would later follow up with another rushing touchdown from Dailey, however, Kings failed to convert on the two point attempt after keeping the lead at 20-7. At the backend of the quarter, Dailey would find Tristan Stewart for a touchdown, Reggie Workman would convert the two point conversion to give Kings a 28-7 lead heading into halftime.

In the 3rd, Dailey would rack up another passing touchdown, this time to Marion Victor. Kings was now up 35-7, Somerset had yet to find an answer to the barrage of Lions touchdowns. Running clock would start in the 4th quarter thanks to a Joe Dailey passing touchdown to Reggie Workman, putting the Lions up 42-7. Kings would get one more touchdown before the game ended thanks to a rush by Tristan Stewart, putting the Lions in front 49-7.

With this win, The King’s Academy gets their first playoff win since 2018 where they made an immaculate run to their first State Championship appearance. Kings will advance to the Regional Semifinals and travel Broward County to take on national powerhouse American Heritage-Plantation next week.
