Top 25 from Class of 2021: DE/TE Ashton Gillotte closes in on No. 1 spot

NEP Team

PALM BEACH COUNTY – Ashton Gillotte is not letting our current coronavirus pandemic stop him in any way, shape, or form.

The Boca Raton junior hybrid defensive end/tight end has been hard at work to keeping himself in top shape. If you go on his Twitter account (@AshtonGillotte) and look at his workout videos, you’ll be impressed with his level of focus on strength, stamina, and durability.

To top it off, Gillotte is one of only two players in Palm Beach County with at least 10 offers to date. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound two-way player has offers from Vanderbilt, Maryland, Syracuse, Kansas, Wake Forest, USF, FIU, FAU, Tulane, and Dartmouth.

Oh and by the way, Gillotte’s junior season was one to remember in more ways than one. In 11 games played, he finished with 87 tackles and 16 sacks (11th overall in the state) at the defensive end position, while adding 132 receiving yards at the tight end position.

All this is enough for Gillotte to jump from No. 4 to No. 2 overall in our latest player rankings for the Class of 2021.

However, it’s not enough to unseat American Heritage (Delray Beach) cornerback Tyler Gaskin, who is the other Palm Beach County junior with at least 10 offers.

Our reigning No. 1 overall player has 13 offers to date, including the latest from Utah State, Penn, Furman, and Holy Cross. This past week, Gaskin received all four of those offers in a span of 24-48 hours.

As we have said before, the latest offers are really the only thing we can go by at this time. It’s quite obvious why this is the case.

With all that said, we do have some other movement taking place in this latest iteration. And to cap it off, we added five (5) more players for inclusion in our Close to 25 list, making it 15 total players that were considered for our latest Top 25.
