PALM BEACH GARDENS – Chauncey Bowens has proven himself as the best offensive player this season in Palm Beach County.
Our No. 1 overall player was voted as the New Era Prep Offensive Player of the Week six times in seven regular season games played. The Georgia verbal commit and Benjamin standout (‘24 RB) won the honor in the following weeks:
•Week 1: 17 carries, 163 yards, 2 touchdowns in 49-6 road win over John Carroll
•Week 3: 21 carries, 77 yards, 1 touchdown; 2 carries, 31 yards; 108 total yards in 27-21 home win over Clearwater International Academy
•Week 4: 4 carries, 83 yards, 1 touchdown; 1 catch, 72 yards, 1 touchdown; 155 total yards in 49-0 home win over Gulliver Prep (Miami)
•Week 5: 13 carries, 100 yards, 2 touchdowns in 24-0 road win over Jensen Beach
•Week 6: 9 carries, 61 yards, 1 rushing touchdown; 2 catches, 14 yards, 1 receiving touchdown in 48-6 road win over Glades Central
•Week 8: 155 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns in 35-0 home win over Pahokee
Bowens made sure to credit his entire team for all of his success at this particular juncture.
It should be noted the Bowens has led the way in Benjmain completing its first Muck City Sweep by beating both Glades Central and Pahokee in the regular season.
“It’s a honor and definitely a testament to how hard our guys have worked this offseason to make me look good on the field,” the 5-foot-11, 209-pound running back said.
Benjamin offensive lineman and UCF verbal commit Chase Malamala (‘24) offered his take on the three-touchdown performance by Bowens against Pahokee.
“He had a great game with a hat trick to end the night,” Malamala said. “It’s great being able to block for a guy like him. If we block well as a unit, it’s a very rewarding experience.”
Bowens spoke on the level of protection that Malamala and his fellow offensive lineman have providing him throughout this season.
“They’re all a bunch of hard-nosed grinders,” Bowens said. “All they know how to do is work.”
Our entire New Era Prep congratulates Bowens on a job well done for himself and the Benjmain Buccaneers. We wish him the best as he goes on to finish his senior season over the next several weeks ahead.
