Lewis will arrive at Coral Gables with the potential to make an immediate impact. With 3 years of eligibility remaining, the 6’2 guard is ranked as the #22 overall player and #7 point guard in the transfer portal according to On3’s portal rankings. The Hurricanes were in a major need to fill the point guard position with Tre Donaldson leaving for the NBA Draft, but with the addition of Lewis, that gap fills instantly.
During his one season at Villanova, Lewis proved to be one of the top freshmen guards in the country, averaging 12.2 points and 5.3 assists per game, and breaking freshman records at Villanova with 176 assists and 63 steals. His impressive play earned him Second Team All-Big East, along with unanimous Big East All-Freshman Team honors.

The addition for Jai Lucas heading into year two is massive, as Lucas has played a role in Lewis’s recruiting process dating back to his time as an assistant at Duke.
Lewis entered his name into the NBA Draft while entering the transfer portal but ultimately chose the route to Coral Gables meaning a meaning a strong season in Miami could elevate his NBA stock even more.
For Miami, the commitment is yet another addition to be looking forward to in year two of the Jai Lucas era. With young talent like Dante Allen and Shelton Henderson returning with the likes of new additions in Lewis and Cyril, the Canes are building a roster capable of competing at the top of the ACC once again.
Welcome to The U, Acaden!
