FORT LAUDERDALE – Zakaih Saez made a big announcement on Tuesday, May 25.

The No. 1 overall player in the Class of 2023 revealed on his Twitter page that he has transferred from King’s Academy to St. Thomas Aquinas.

Saez (6-foot-5, 220 pounds) was brief when asked about what led to his decision on the school move from Palm Beach County to Broward County.

“It’s the tradition of the school,” Saez said. “I want to just better myself on the field and off.”

Saez currently has FBS offers from the likes of Florida State, Mississippi State, Syracuse, Louisville, Pittsburgh, and FAU.

In his sophomore season at King’s Academy, Saez finished 2020 with 46 tackles (19 tackles for loss) and 12 sacks. His best individual game was against St. John Paul II, when he had nine tackles (seven tackles for loss) and four sacks in a 28-21 road win.

Saez reflected on what he will remember about his time at King’s Academy.

“It will be the relationships I built and the achievements I accomplished,” Saez said.

Saez is also a bona-fide player in basketball. He starred for the Lions team that finished with an 18-3 record this winter.

“I’m getter bigger, stronger, faster,” Saez said. “Not just football, but basketball too. I’ve attended some showcases and I’ll be at a few more in June/July.”

King’s Academy head coach Keith Allen wished Saez the best for his present and future.

“God has blessed him with great talents and athleticism,” Allen said. “I pray and hope he works hard on improving those talents for the glory and honor of God If he does that, his future is bright.”
