Treasure Coast Top 10: Week 2

NEP Team

TREASURE COAST – After two regular season games played, the majority of our top teams are 2-0 on the season.

Of all the teams in our previous and current Top 10 editions, only Treasure Coast, Centennial, and Fort Pierce Central have at least one loss.

With that said, after consultation with a host of coaches from the entire Treasure Coast area, we have decided that no changes will be made this week.

Here are the top three determinants on how the Top 10 turned out – in order:

•Strength of overall team
•Strength of schedule
•Wins and losses

If one takes a look at the first two criteria, it is quite evident that second-ranked Treasure Coast (0-2 start) is coming off losses to two of the state’s best overall teams:

* 14-5 loss to Rockledge in Week 1
* 14-13 loss to Jesuit (Tampa) in Week 2

The vast majority of our Treasure Coast area coaches that we checked in with – which will never be disclosed – felt these two close losses should not be held against Treasure Coast.

The same situation applies to fifth-ranked Centennial (1-1), which lost 40-22 to DeLand in Week 2.

As for tenth-ranked Fort Pierce Central (1-1), it overcame a 14-0 loss to Jensen Beach in Week 1 with a convincing 31-7 win over Okeechobee in Week 2.

Everyone else is 2-0 right now.

Without further ado, here is the Treasure Coast Top 10 from Week 1’s action.

1. Vero Beach (2-0)
2. Treasure Coast (0-2)
3. John Carroll (2-0)
4. Martin County (2-0)
5. Centennial (1-1)
6. Fort Pierce Westwood (2-0)
7. Jensen Beach (2-0)
8. Port St. Lucie (2-0)
9. Sebastian River (2-0)
10. Fort Pierce Central (1-1)

Others: Okeechobee (0-2), St. Edwards (1-1), South Fork (0-2), Tradition Prep (0-1)

PLEASE NOTE: We will consult with coaches from the majority of our 14 Treasure Coast teams before each weekly Top 10 list is released. This ensures that the best possible order is published and all 14 teams are fairly represented.
