KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Jupiter Warriors lacrosse team came out in full force this past Saturday night (May 8).
In the Class 2A state title game against Winter Park, it was clear from the outset how the outcome would turn out. Jupiter (18-1 final record) jumped out to an early 3-1 lead over Winter Park (19-1 final record) and never looked back, as a multitude of players stepped up by scoring at least one goal in their quest for reaching the summit.
Max Silver (junior; attack position) and Max Sanderson (senior; attack position) led the charge in the first quarter, setting the pace for how Jupiter would hold off any potential rally made by Winter Park in a 12-8 win.
By halftime, Jupiter would take a 7-4 lead, with added goal contributions from Tyler Douglas (senior; midfielder position), Jackson Bashaw (junior; attack position), and Trace Hogan (junior; midfielder position).
The second half was more of the same, as the Warriors tacked on four more goals to seal the deal and the 2A title trophy.
“We secured the chip by shutting down Winter Park’s offense, dominating the face off, and possessing the ball on offense,” Jupiter junior defender/midfielder Max Pareto said.
Also of note: Jupiter senior midfielder Michael Smith won most of the face-off’s against Winter Park this past weekend.
“Let’s give Michael Smith some love,” Pareto said. “We wouldn’t be here without him.”
This is Jupiter’s second state title in four years. The other one came in 2018, when the Class of 2021 players were freshman.
It could not have been a better ending for the Warriors outgoing seniors.
“I would like to say that we sent out seniors on a good note and everyone will remember this moment,” Pareto said. “We’re all a big family.”
