JUPITER – All it takes is one.
Morehead State was the first Division 1 school to extend an offer to Jupiter senior defensive end Cristian Orth. This occurred on April 23.
Less than eight months later, the Jupiter team leader pledged his verbal commitment to the university that believed in him first. He did this on the night of Dec. 14.
“I decided to choose Morehead State because of the amazing atmosphere and family
culture they have,” the 6-foot-4, 250-pound defensive end said. “The coaches over there have believed in me since Day 1, and that’s really all I could ask for.”
Orth has been a steady presence with the Jupiter football program, helping the team finish the regular season with a 4-0 record. He has been playing multiple positions in his senior year, including at defensive end, tight end, offensive line, and as a long snapper.
The high school football journey for Orth will come to an end tonight (Dec. 15, 6 p.m. kickoff), with Jupiter (4-1) hosting Park Vista (3-2) to close out 2020.
“It means everything to me,” Orth said. “I’m obviously excited for what’s to come. But I’m going to lay out everything on the line tonight for my brothers. These four years went by too fast. We’re all just trying to soak it all in.”
Regardless of how the season finale turns out, there will be one shining moment this year in Orth’s eyes.
“Without a doubt, I would say being able to knock off Palm Beach Gardens,” Orth said of Jupiter’s 35-28 win in Week 3 of the regular season. “It’s something Jupiter hasn’t done in decades. And for us to make history that night, it showed how hard we’ve worked to get to that moment when we were in victory formation with the clock hitting 0:00.”
NOTE: After the final buzzer tonight against Park Vista, Orth (No. 3-ranked defensive end; No. 29 overall player in Palm Beach County) will get in preparation mode to officially sign his letter of intent with Morehead State. It could happen sometime later this week.
We’ll be staying on top of this as the eventual Orth signing unfolds.
