BOSTON — UConn will face Army West Point in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl on Dec. 27 at historic Fenway Park, the schools announced Sunday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 2:15 p.m. ET, with national television coverage on ESPN.

The Huskies (9-3) are making their second straight appearance in the Fenway Bowl and their third bowl appearance in the past four seasons. UConn is seeking its 10th win of the season, something the program has accomplished only once before, in 1998.

“We’re honored to accept the invitation to return to the Wasabi Fenway Bowl,” interim head coach Gordon Sammis said in a statement. “Last year’s experience was memorable, and our players have earned the opportunity to compete on this special stage again.”

UConn recently hired former Toledo head coach Jason Candle, who signed a six-year contract and will take over the program following the bowl game.

The Huskies are led by quarterback Joe Fagnano, who threw for 3,448 yards and 28 touchdowns this season. Wide receiver Skyler Bell caught 101 passes for 1,276 yards and 13 touchdowns, while running back Cam Edwards rushed for 1,132 yards and 14 scores.

Army enters the game under head coach Jeff Monken, who is taking the Black Knights to their 12th bowl appearance in program history. Army owns an 8-3 bowl record all-time and a 5-1 mark in bowl games under Monken.

“I am thrilled that our team will play in the Wasabi Fenway Bowl, one of America’s most unique bowl experiences,” Monken said. “It’s a great opportunity to showcase our program and West Point on a national stage.”

The game will mark the 10th all-time meeting between the programs. Army won the most recent matchups in 2021 and 2022.

The Wasabi Fenway Bowl will be played for the fourth time, with Fenway Park hosting a college football bowl game annually since 2022.
