PALM BEACH GARDENS – The Benjamin School had an unexpected visitor arrive via helicopter to their campus today (Jan. 25)
The Buccaneers hosted two-time national champion head coach Kirby Smart from the University of Georgia.
What was the reason for Smart’s visit? It was to personally meet with two of our own local players.
Today, the Bulldogs gave official offers to running back Chauncey Bowens (’24) and wide receiver Amaree Williams (’25).
Benjamin head coach Eric Kresser described both of these young men.
“Good football players, good students and even better young men that have a bright future in this sport,” Kresser said.
According to Kresser, TBS is the only school Coach Smart is planning on visiting in Palm Beach County.
“It’s great,” Kresser said from a coach’s perspective. “It shows that our guys have put the time in, worked hard, and it is showing to these coaches. I do a lot of communicating with college coaches. I make sure they know who our guys are, so they do not fly under the radar. It’s definitely nice having the guys that just won a national championship come to your school.”
Chauncey is a 6-foot, 205-pound running back. Rivals.com has him listed as a four-star prospect, and the No. 20-ranked running back in the Class of 2024.
During the 10 games of his junior season, Chauncey recorded:
• 940 Yards
• 8 Touchdowns
• 4 100+ yard games
Chauncey is verbally committed to the University of Florida.
Amaree Williams is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound wide receiver, tight end, and defensive end. During his sophomore season, Amaree recorded this impressive stat line:
• 7 receptions
• 137 yards
• 4 touchdowns
• 40 tackles
• 14 tackles for Loss
• 15 sacks
• 1 interception
Amaree has also received offers from Power 5 schools such as Auburn, Kentucky, Penn State, and Pitt.
The Georgia Bulldogs are one of college football’s most historic programs. The Bulldogs consistently produce talent that translates to the NFL, such as Nick Chubb (Cleveland Browns), A.J. Green (Arizona Cardinals), D’Andre Swift (Detroit Lions), George Pickens (Pittsburgh Steelers) and James Cook (Buffalo Bills).
Both of these young men have bright futures in the sport of football, and we should all look forward to where they end up.
