The regular-season American Athletic Conference men’s basketball champions, South Florida Bulls, closed out the regular season with an 83-60 win over the Charlotte 49ers on Sunday night at the Yuengling Center, fueled by a strong shooting performance from senior guards Joseph Pinion and Wes Enis.

Five Bulls finished in double figures, led by Pinion’s 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field. Enis followed with 20 points while adding seven rebounds and six assists.
“Yeah, it’s great. Me and Joe are very appreciative of our teammates and the coaching staff finding us good looks. It doesn’t happen without teammates trusting you to shoot the ball and the coaching staff trusting you to shoot the ball at a high clip. It’s just a great feeling,” Enis said.
The duo also battled for the program’s single-season 3-point record, with both players finishing the regular season with 100 made 3-pointers.
South Florida became the 12th program in NCAA history to have two players reach 100 3-pointers in the same season. The Bulls also set a new program record with 300 made 3-pointers this season.
With the win, USF secured the No. 1 seed in the American Athletic Conference tournament and will receive a bye to the semifinals on March 14.
The Bulls enter the conference tournament riding a nine-game winning streak and remain on the NCAA tournament bubble.
“They’re supposed to evaluate how teams are playing right now,” USF head coach Bryan Hodgson said. “We’ve won nine games in a row, and we’ve won them in convincing fashion. We’re top 50 in the country on both sides of the ball and have the most efficient offense in the history of South Florida basketball. We’re doing all the things you need to do to make sure you’re in that conversation.”
With the No. 1 seed and a nine-game winning streak, the Bulls will look to carry their momentum into Birmingham and strengthen their case for a spot in the NCAA tournament.
