The University of South Florida Bulls nearly make history recording seven rushing touchdowns in the 59-17 win against the Delaware State Hornets at Raymond James Stadium. Senior running back D.J. Crowther led the Bulls with three rushing touchdowns along with 101 yards on eight carries.

“I felt great. We talked all week about, you got to run hard, you got to play physical, play disciplined. I couldn’t do it without the boys up front,” Crowther said.

USF jumps to 3-0 on the year, which is its best start since 2018.

The final score suggests a blowout, you wouldn’t know it from the first half; the box score would have you fooled as the Hornets were step-for-step with Bulls going into halftime trailing 28-17. Sophomore quarterback Luke Kromenhoek marched down 72 yards to give the Bulls an 11 point lead.

“We definitely didn’t capitalize on nearly, you know, lost half a game because we didn’t execute the right way or prepare the right way or motivate the right way. It’s got to get fixed because that’s not okay,” head coach Brian Hartline said.

Junior quarterback Michael Van Buren also supplying energy to the team with 300 passing yards for his third time in his career and one touchdown. Hartline praised Van Buren for keeping the ball safe and not forcing any throws to put the Bulls in jeopardy.

Defense at the beginning of the game was very questionable, on the opening drive for the Hornets, senior quarterback Ui Ale threw a 90-yard touchdown pass on the first play.

There is a feeling that this team is starting to gel together. Each game, the Bulls find a spark in the offense that just will not go away.

Week four will take place at Bowling Green who are 0-3 to start the season.
