BOCA RATON – The Florida Atlantic Owls were introduced to quarterback Kyler Murray and the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 1.
It was a 63-14 loss for FAU (0-1), but head coach Lane Kiffin wanted to quickly turn the page to his team’s next opponent.
“Did you guys enjoy that preseason game?” Kiffin joked. “It didn’t really count, right?”
Unfortunately for the Owls, it did count. Humble pie was served in the process.
FAU is back home now, and its focus is squarely on the Air Force Falcons for Week 2.
The Falcons (1-0) got the running game rolling in their 38-0 win over Stony Brook (0-1) with 333 yards and 29 yards passing to go along with four scores.
Quarterback Arion Worthman is not at full strength for the Falcons, and he won’t be able to connect on the deep passes. It plays right into the hands of the Owls defense, which will play better than it did in Norman.
The Owls are going to move the ball early on. With the involvement of running back Devin Singletary, a third-team All-American last season, they’re going to score enough in the first quarter to make Air Force struggle.
Expect the Owls to bounce back for their first win of the season.
The kickoff is set for 2 p.m. tomorrow (Sept. 8) at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton.
Prediction: FAU 28, Air Force 23
