Week 2 team rankings: Palm Beach County private schools

NEP Team

PALM BEACH COUNTY – Our No. 1 team in the area did not have a game last week.

In other words, American Heritage (Delray Beach) will remain at the top spot – at least for now.

The suspense happens below the No. 1 position, where we have a new No. 2. This spot will go to Cardinal Newman, as the suddenly upstart program vaults up one spot due to its 28-19 home win over Doral Academy.

Cardinal Newman (2-1) is probably the one team that has a legitimate shot at eventually unseating American Heritage due to its remaining regular season schedule.

The Crusaders have a game against then-No. 2/now-No. 4 St. John Paul II Eagles (2-1) at home this Friday night (Oct. 9) and another one at home against the top-ranked Stallions on Friday, Oct. 30.

Speaking of St. John Paul II, the upstart collective drops two spots this week due to its surprising 28-21 home loss to then-No. 4/now-No. 3 King’s Academy (3-1; 1-spot increase). The Eagles can make the Top 5 interesting with a road win this Friday night against the Crusaders.

And our new No. 5 team this week is the Glades Day Gators (2-1), a 34-15 victor over previous No. 5 Jupiter Christian (2-1).
