Week 6 Top 10: Many moves take place

NEP Team

PALM BEACH COUNTY – We were literally only a few points away from making no changes to the latest Top 10 rankings.

Fresh from a bye, then-No. 2 Glades Central (3-2) was favored to take down Carol City (Miami) with ease at home. And for the majority of its Week 6 game, it seemed like this outcome would happen.

But after the Raiders went into halftime with a 12-5 – thanks partly to an early interception return for a touchdown by senior defensive back Robert Harris – the Chiefs (2-3) staged a comeback on their own.

The home team was outscored 15-6 in the second half, as this happening sealed the lone upset of Week 6.

As a result of Glades Central’s stunning two-point home loss to Carol City, five teams moved up one spot in the latest Combined Top 10 rankings.

The biggest beneficiary of this occurrence is Dwyer, a 40-0 winner at home over Sebastian River in Week 6.

In a span of three weeks, the Panthers (4-1) have moved up from a low of No. 8 to a high of No. 2. They have been quietly impressive in their own right, especially over the last three games in which they have outscored their opponents by a score of 70-21.

Meanwhile, Park Vista (5-0) has been our area’s biggest surprise and success story after five games played.

The Cobras took care of business in their 56-0 homecoming win over the Santaluces Chiefs (0-5) in Week 6. They have outscored their five opponents by a score of 234-15.

Occupying the 4-5-6 positions this week are Palm Beach Gardens (4-2), Pahokee (4-1), and Atlantic (Delray Beach) (3-2). All three teams won their respective games comfortably in Week 6.

Behind these aforementioned teams this week is Glades Central, which dropped five spots from No. 2 to No. 7.

The rest of our Top 10 remained in place, as No. 1 Palm Beach Central (5-0), No. 8 Benjamin (4–1), No. 9 Seminole Ridge (5-1), and No. 10 Cardinal Newman (3-2) came out on top in their respective Week 6 games.

One thing to note: For the fourth week in a row, there are no new Top 10 entries. We have not had one since Park Vista joined the upper tier four weeks ago.

With that, please take a look at the latest Combined Top 10, Public Top 10, and Private Top 5 rankings.
